2011 Wheatbelt Training Awards Winners

The Wheatbelt Training Awards Presentation on Saturday 12 November showcased the region's immensely talented youth with finalists from Grass Valley, Cunderdin, Narrogin, Boddington, Spencers Brook, Beverley and Northam. Opened by the Hon. Mia Davies, MLC, and held at the function room at the Northam Recreation Centre, the event was well attended by trainees including school aged students, industry, government departments and shire councils, school and training institutions as well as the event sponsors. The winners were from a wide variety of industries giving insight to the diversity of the region.

Rashelle Strawbridge - Wheatbelt Vocational Student of the Year
Fiona Meiklem - Wheatbelt School Based Trainee of the Year
WA College of Agriculture - Narrogin - Wheatbelt School and Business Partnership of the Year
Wheatbelt Steel - Wheatbelt Employer of the Year
Dwayne Beach - Wheatbelt Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year
Leah Klassek - Trainee of the Year
David Stanik - Apprentice of the Year

An added highlight was the entertainment tones of Lauren Arthur from Grass Valley. The event focused on the kaleidoscope of opportunities available within the Wheatbelt region utilising local suppliers and products from the region.
